Members of the Cross Country Running Team train for their first race of the season

The Cross Country running team traveled to Hebron Academy for its first competition of the year. It was unseasonably warm and just a beautiful day to run.

“All of our runners were up to the challenge of tackling the ever-undulating and hilly terrain,” said coach Adam Leff. Once the results were compiled, Nate Livingood ’22 finished on top of the boys’ race, and Reese Furneaux ’25 won the girls’ race!

Competitions this year consist of each MAISAD school having access to the course at a different time during the day, and each runner is socially distant, starting their race at intervals of 1 minute.

“All our runners posted great marks to open the season,” says Coach Leff “but above all, our team displayed a tremendous amount of good sportsmanship that was commented on by the race organizers as they each finished their races and then ran back on course to cheer their teammates on!”

Next Saturday their season continues when Gould hosts our rival MAISAD schools at home.
