An update on the Equestrian Program from Kristen Drew, Gould Science Teacher, and Equestrian Program Director.
We have enjoyed a great fall with Gould’s Equestrian program out at Deepwood Farm, fine-tuning our dressage skills in beautiful scenic Western Maine.

Each day we are greeted by our trainer DiAnne Ward and her amazing crew of horses. We have been bonding especially with Gabe, McGregor, Micah, Sage, and Saul but are sure to share the love with the 17 other horses.
This season one student group came at a walk, trot, and canter level and one group was a walk, trot group, allowing for two well-matched group lessons.

Now that our season is over, everyone learned to canter. We attended two shows competing at Intro and Training Levels; one was a Central Maine Dressage Association sponsored event and the second was a Western Maine Dressage Association sponsored event.

At these shows, there were some great scores earned as well as some valuable information shared by the judge in order to improve as riders.

We also had the opportunity for some amazing trail rides through the beautiful fall colors of Western Maine. These rides are not only refreshing but also a great way to use the skills that we work on while in the ring.
