Gould skiers train all year round! A group of U12/14 athletes just returned from a ten-day training camp in Les Deux Alpes, France. With the perfectly groomed conditions and the ample terrain that Les Deux had to offer, the athletes were able to focus on strong fundamentals and progress into 30-gate courses. Over 15 full-length runs were taken before lunch every day!
A Typical Day of Camp:
Morning:
The athletes ate breakfast at 6:00 am and then headed to the Gondola line to be one of the first teams on the glacier. The 25-minute Gondola ride jumped nearly 5,000ft in elevation in its ascent, giving athletes time to get geared up and ensuring that they got the most out of their morning training session.

Training:
Training days started out with two full-length warm-up runs and personalized “activation drills” to focus on exactly what individual athletes needed to work on. This was followed by directed gate training with on-hill video feedback. Utilizing the quick surface lift to transport the athletes allowed them to get over 15 runs in a day of training. The time on the glacier wrapped up around 11:30 am and the team hopped back on the Gondola for a ride down while immersed in the French and Italian languages.

Afternoon:
Once off the snow, the kids had a short break to drop their gear in their rooms and get changed for lunch and activities. Afternoons always held some kind of adventure from swimming, to taking advantage of all of the incredible hiking venues, to taking a short ride down to Venosc to explore the true definition of a small French town on the side of a mountain.
